Behind the Surrey Casino Map

This page explains how the map and the list on this site come together. It covers who writes the guide, where the town centre points sit, and how distances are measured. It also says what gets left out, and why.

Written by the Six Towns Desk

A small editorial team writes and checks every page on this site, and signs it as the Six Towns desk. There is no single named author behind the guide. The name comes from Surrey's six town centres, because the guide starts from whichever one you call home.

This guide exists because a search for the nearest casino means six different things in Surrey. Someone in Whalley and someone in South Surrey start from very different spots, so the site starts with yours. Pick Whalley (City Centre), Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale or South Surrey, and the list sorts itself from there.

Every painted picture on this site comes from an image generator, and seven of them started from real photos of the place itself, seen from the same side. Those seven are Cascades Casino Delta, Grand Villa Casino, Starlight Casino, Cascades Casino Langley, Hastings Racecourse, Parq Vancouver and the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver theatre stage. The former Fraser Downs building, a tug on the Fraser River near River Rock and the River Rock buffet entrance follow free-licensed photos, credited underneath. The river bridge, the rainy street and the cafe-table map are invented scenes, and none of the paintings shows a person. Two pictures, Elements Casino Surrey and the River Rock atrium, are real credited photographs, the atrium's people removed; check a casino's own site before driving.

How the Map Is Drawn

Every point on the map is a pair of coordinates. Town centres use approximate centres, so Whalley sits at 49.1917, -122.8458 and South Surrey at 49.0455, -122.7792. Venues get their own points the same way. When you choose your town, your browser works out the great-circle distance to each venue. That is a straight line over the curve of the earth, so a trip by road is never shorter.

The coastline is drawn by hand. It is schematic, good for getting your bearings and no use for navigation.

The Six Towns desk draws its facts from venue pages, City of Surrey pages and BCLC pages. Each one is stored with its source and the date it was checked. Whatever the editors could not confirm stays out. Elements Casino Surrey's floor and table hours are printed in the guide, but its holiday hours are not published, so they are left out. This is the October 2026 edition; check the venue's own page before you go.
